HOUGHTON CUP FINAL
The last Cup final for this season was staged
at Robin Park Stadium on Sunday 10th May 09
contesting the final was the Premier League Champions for this season
Hawkley Hall Athletic against Standish Potters from Division 1
Athletic took the lead in the first half and had some good chances to
improve their lead but didn't take them and with
Hawkley getting a man sent off this gave the Potters confidence and
they started to play and make chances
but they didn't take them either
In the second half Hawkley defended very well and went on to win the
game and the double
so congratulations to Hawkley Hall Athletic South Lancs Premier Division

WILF HICKSON MEMORIAL CUP
The Wilf Hickson Memorial up Final was contested by Billinge
Athletic & Southport Vulcan
on Thursday 7th May at the Robin Park Stadium and dispite the howling
wind
both teams played well to make this an atractive final to watch
Southport Vulcan finished up 2-1 winners of the tie but not before they
had a couple of scary moments
as Billinge pegged them back in the second half

DIVISION 3 CUP FINAL
Tuesday night 5th May saw Bryn Park take on HSM
for the Division 3 Cup
at Brocstedes Park home of Ashton Athletic FC
The game was played in a very good spirit with HSM the eventual winners
by 4 goals to nil

Knowsley South won this one comfortably by 6 goals to 2 Knowsley
went 3 up after 20 minutes
and finished thefirst half leading 5 -0
Rigby South did rally in the second half and scored 2 goals
but Man of the match Steve Melville scored a cracker from 30 yards to
seal the victory

April at Robn Park Stadium and ran out 2-1 winners

DAVENPORT MILLENNIUM CUP FINAL
Division Two
The first South Lancs cup final of the season staged at Robin
Park Stadium saw Academy Sports take on Shamrock Rovers
in a good contest with chances for both teams during the match
but with Academy going down to 10 men Shamrock took
the advantage and ran out 2-0 winners

Our under 18's Inter League Squad Lose in the Lancashire
Inter
League Final going down 4-2 to a very good side from East Lancs.
East Lancs went 2 goals up within 30 minutes but South
Lancs fought back and
made it 2-2 at the interval with goals from Alex Grisdale & Nathan
Martland
In the second half South Lancs tried to gain the advantage
but East lancs scored 2 good goals to seal the
win

Our Inter League squad played Preston & District in the semi final
of the
Lancashire un 18's Inter League Cup Competition
on Sunday 11th January 09
winning through by 4 goals to 1 with 2 goals apiece from Alex Grisedale
& Gary Jones
South Lancs went 1 up after 5 minutes and added 2 more after 30 min
& 42 min
to make the half time score 3-0
Within a minute of the 2nd half Preston conceded a penalty
and when it was
converted that was game over
although Preston pulled one back South Lancs ran out comfortable winner
they go on to the final which will be played later this month
at The County Ground Leyland

On Sunday 16th November 08 South Lancs played their
first game in the
Under 18's Lancashire Cup Inter League Competition
Playing Bury & Radcliffe at Beeches playing Fields
St Helens
As defending Champions South Lancs were determend not to give up their
title
and went into a 1-0 lead after 4 minute but then sat back and allowed
Bury to equalise
but came back and scored th make it 2-1 at half time
In the second half with the help of Mr exerset Dave Abrahams,
South Lancs went on to win 6-1 with
2 goals from Alex Grisdale and 1 apiece from
Gary Jones, Tom McKee, Greg Shelton & Chris Foster
